  • Pitching and writing strong first person and opinion pieces that are pinned to trending and breaking news as well as events. 

  • Editing other freelancers work to match in-house style.

  • Producing video content, ghostwriting, interviewing, transcribing and commissioning writers for topical and evergreen stories.

News Producer, ITV 'This Morning'

  • Responsible for producing everything from light-hearted segments to serious news stories, debates and topical chats.

  • Interviewing guests, experts, celebrities and PRs to get a sense of a story, then writing up briefs/scripts for presenters and producer notes to be read/used while live on air ensuring that any necessary legal, welfare and fact checks are completed too.

  • Helping to arrange pictures/graphics to accompany a story. Booking travel and organising camera crews for location items.

  • Pitch original ideas to the News Editor on a daily basis as well as utilising platforms such as TikTok to identify trending news and to help source case studies for forward planning.

Senior Production Journalist, The Independent

  • Editing content from both in-house journalists and freelancers in keeping with IndyBest’s house style. Ensuring all content is optimised for SEO and that affiliate links and prices are accurate.

  • Writing and publishing trending content to speed, working to embargoes for releases and across big sale events such as Amazon Prime Day events and Black Friday / Cyber Monday.

  • Using the Adobe suite to create and edit pictures for articles.

  • Pitching, writing and reviewing products for the IndyBest site and weekly Newsletter, topics include; fashion, beauty, books, home and garden, food, drink, sport, fitness and travel.

Features Writer/Commissioning Editor, Future PLC

  • Interviewing, researching and writing emotional real life first person features for multiple weekly/monthly national women’s magazines and adapting print content for GoodToKnow.co.uk.

  • Pitching new and innovative stories on a daily basis to the Features Editor to ensure our content lines up with the latest news headlines and emerging trends..

  • Stepping into the role of Commissioning Editor to bring in stories from a wide range of sources, including, but not limited to; agencies, charities, PR’s, freelance journalists and the public.

  • Attending and representing the magazines at industry events such as product/book launches and press trips.

Junior Writer, Dnata World Traveller

  • Worked closely with the editor to determine monthly topics for the print magazine and how best to rework those features for online by adapting headlines, sells, and visuals to work for digital.

  • Developed new social media strategies, for example at the time utilising Instagram Stories, to drive content to the then newly relaunched website.

  • Responsible for writing long length features and conducting international interviews with travel influencers, photographers, local chefs and business owners to create in depth travel guides.

  • Responsible for producing articles, conducting interviews and research for breaking news topics such as the Brexit referendum, business openings and local elections and all to the tight deadlines of a daily newspaper.

Interests, Hobbies & Achievements

  • Dance - I am trained in ballet, tap, jazz, contemporary, and hip-hop. I have also obtained my teaching qualification, coordinated city-wide dance competitions as well as performed across the UK.

  • Baking - Like many, baking kept me sane during lockdown. I now bake and decorate cupcakes for friends and family on a regular basis and have raised almost £2,000 for the Alzheimer’s Society when I took part in their cupcake day fundraiser in 2021.​

  • Vice President/Events Manager at University of Portsmouth of Dance Club - I organised competitions, dance shows, and charity showcases for the entire club, including one such even which raised over £2,000 for charity and involved over 500 students.

​

  • Public speaking - I was asked to be the Graduate Speaker for my graduation ceremony and class in July 2017 as well as hosting and presenting at a number of charity events.
